BOP inmates may receive general correspondence addressed with their full committed name and BOP Register Number.
Beginning in November 2024, BOP announced that at institutions other than minimum-security facilities, general correspondence is photocopied and only the photocopy is delivered. General mail at those institutions must use plain white paper and a white envelope. Glitter, stickers, lipstick, crayon, marker, fragrance, suspicious stains and unauthorized labels are prohibited.
Minimum-security facilities such as a Federal Prison Camp can have different handling; confirm the current facility page before mailing.

Photos remain subject to BOP correspondence and inmate-property restrictions. Do not send photos with prohibited explicit content, contraband-related content, stickers, fragrance or other prohibited additions. Confirm any facility-specific quantity or size limits before sending a large photo batch.
